Tamim may be relieved vice captain.

Tamim Iqbal upset about on the day he quit vice-captaincy.

Bangladesh Cricket Board's cricket operations chairman Akram Khan, who reportedly received the letter of resignation from Tamim, awaits the president's consent for the resignation's final approval and direction to the way forward. However, it is likely that Mushfiqur Rahim will get a new deputy.
While Tamim's reasoning behind the decision -- that he wants to put an extra effort on his batting and thereby come out of the lean patch -- holds good, many however feel that the decision to name Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as captain for the T20 series, in place of the injured Mushfiqur, could have had influenced his decision; and there are several other reasons supporting the latter argument.
Mashrafe is a capable leader, who has earned the respects of his players, over the years and naming him as captain was no doubt a positive move. On the contrary some of Tamim's decisions on the field during the second Test, when Mushfiqur was off, were criticised.
But the question here is not about who would be a better captain on the field. What the team management's decision depicts is their lack of confidence in Tamim as a leader.
If that be the case, then why was he named vice-captain -- that too right before this series -- in the first place?
Tamim's decision to step down could have been either an emotional outburst or like he officially put it, a wake-up call. Either way, if this were to happen to any other player, whereby the management eventually goes on to shrug him aside of his expected duties, it would only be natural for him to feel unwanted.
