controversial proposals approved by ICC
The ICC Board has approved the ‘controversial’ proposal of three powerful boards on cricket governance, competition and finances.
An
ICC press release said eight full Members including Bangladesh
supported the position paper presented by India, Australia and England.
However, Pakistan and Sri Lanka abstained in the vote.
Last month, a meeting of the Test nations’ boards in Dubai had discussed the draft proposal of the three influential cricket bodies for a two-tier Test system and shelved it.
Then the ICC had said that all boards had agreed on many issues after some changes were brought to the draft.
The draft proposals leaked to the media last month had suggested the formation of a five-man executive committee, on which the boards of India, Australia and England would be guaranteed a place.
The two other positions would be selected by the ICC Board annually.
