Marion "Suge" Knight The former American rap music mogul could face life in prison if convicted
Marion "Suge" Knight is to stay in jail for six more weeks after his bail hearing was postponed.
The former rap music mogul is charged with murder and attempted murder following a fatal hit-and-run incident outside a fast food restaurant.
His lawyer says it was an accident which happened as his client tried to escape an attack.
Prosecutors allege that the US record producer intended to run over a friend and another man after an argument.
Knight, who founded Death Row Records, which featured Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre and Tupac Shakur as its top artists, faces a total of four charges under his real name Marion Hugh Knight and faces life in prison if convicted.
It is alleged a truck Mr Knight was driving hit and killed his friend Terry Carter, 55, in the incident in the Los Angeles suburb of Compton on 29 January.
Another man, Cle "Bone" Sloan, 51, was injured.
The decision to keep Mr Knight in prison was made by a judge, after his lawyers asked for more time to review evidence before a bail hearing.
The hearing was postponed to 20 March. Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Barnes said it may include evidence of a "very large stack of uncharged crimes.'"
Mr Knight replied "yes" when asked on Monday if he approved of the delay to the case.
